Led stop/bulb

Hi, just wondered if anyone knows of a decent 12v led stop/tail bulb as the one I purchased from an eBay seller was so bad you couldn't distinguish between the brake light & tail light when the lights were on ! I have tried the led light boards from various sellers & these have worked great until some of the LEDs started to fail ! so much for the 30,0000 hours of life as promised  thanks for any info.al ;)

Personally I found that fitting a new reflector with a standard 12v bulb gave better results than LED bulbs....only my experience though, there may be better LED bulbs out there these days.

I used these with half wave diodes to make my own led board after my expensive one failed.

I put a led bulb in my back light and although you could tell the rear light from the brake light it was very dull. I put a normal bulb back in and carry the led as a spare for emergency use only.

I had a similar issue with a number of LED lamps, and in order to distinguish between STOP and TAIL, I sourced some brighter LED (21w equivalent) lamps and lamp holders.

I now have a line of 3 lamps. Only one (the original LED stop and tail) is use for the tail light, but the other two come on with the brake. At last, I have a back light that I want. I was thinking about turning this into an Oily Rag article, but some of the work I had to do to make it work properly was so fiddly that I couldn't expect people to follow my instructions.

I know it's not a direct answer to your question but I decided to go for a full dc set up, it's brilliant. All the lights are bright with no flicker or dimming when using the back brake.
I don't think I'll ever go back to an ac set up.

I'm not too sure if most people here are still on an AC system or DC.
Remember, on an AC system an LED will only illuminate to half the brightness that it would achieve on a DC set up.
I did an experiment on my bike. I fitted the LED tail light before the DC conversion. It was noticeably dimmer than when I converted to DC. Unfortunately I didn't take any pics to show this difference.
It's just down to how electronic components work, LED's prefer DC current!

I run a standard 12v AC stator with a mini bridge wired in at the AC regulator this charges a battery and powers the break light and horn, I've ran this type of system on several scooters over the years.

^ditto.

Works well, LED rear bulb, stop light part is on the battery, rear light part is AC

The one I use is like this

but please note, I couldn't find it on my ebay history and I can't remember if that fitting - 15D, is correct for lambretta, i've posted it to illustrate the LED bit only. I fitted it at least a couple of years ago and still on 1st one.

I run full DC systems on both my scoots, one (Series 80 Jet) has a BGM led light board which has been in there without issue for about 6k miles. The other (LiS) has one of these in it http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTORCYCLE-28 ... 3ceb4b713d
If you remove the red lens, the light board inside lifts out and is a snug fit inside a series 3 lamp unit with the reflector removed. On DC at least, it works a treat, even has a number plate light built in 8-)

I used one of those in my Indian gp rear light, used the self tappers from the original bulb holder to screw into the plastic. The first one l bought was dodgy with the brake light being hardly brighter tgan the tail light but the second works a treat.
