Ive been using S1's on my Special for a few years now and they are due for replacement before long as they do wear quickly i find.I saw some Conti twists on a GP recently which looked nice.How are they compared to the S1's?

Can't compare them to S1's as I've never had them but been running conti twists on a variety of scoots over the years and they've been great, still not as good as the old Michelin Dexters which I rate as the best tyre I've ever run on a scooter and don't get why they stopped making them. Paul

Conti twists served me well on my T5 running round London and Conti Twist Sports have given me good service on my Avanti. Personally I think the S1's are old hat, low speed rating coupled with a low load rating. Unless you are looking for a traditional block tread for local runs I would go for performance over what it looks like any day. The Dunlop ScootSmart is a great tire imho and well worth a look

Found conti-twists slide a little in the wet.

Funnily enough I am running both at the moment. The S1's can be a bit twitchy and seem to find every rut in the road. The Conti Twists are a much better tyre. They feel more secure, and I'm far more confident on those that I am S1's.

I'm running them as they came with tubeless rims I bought, not a tyre I ever thought of buying, but I like them. My local riding area is the Welsh hills and country lanes and as I'm sure you know these can be a bit arduous at speed. I've had no problems with holding the road, and I don't hang around, would definitely buy more.

im a recent convert from S1 to conti twist and like previous poster I found the S1's twitched around on ruts/white lines etc. much happier on the contis.

We've just ridden through poorly surfaced roads in the rain today with one guy happily breezing along.
This is true: when we stopped for a coffee I mentioned this thread and he had conti twists on and we had S1's on. I was not at all comfortable and I've always thought my S1's twitched but had never mentioned it. My favourite ride was Continental Navigators.

Higher speed rating than S1's as well. Always makes me jittery thinking about running sustained high speeds on them. Although, being a Lambretta, it's probably 10 miles an hour slower than I think it is.

Have Conti Twist Race tyres on my TS1, (can't rate them highly enough, even though they last less than 1,200 on the back) and Conti Twist's on all my other road going scooters.

Agree that Dexters were excellent all round tyres, but the speed rating on the Conti Twists provide that added reassurance now that faster speeds are being achieved (some of the time anyway )
