New throttle cables

Postby Chewyboy » Thu Oct 08, 2015 10:07 pm

Hi,
Just got round to final setting up of headset end and carb end of throttle cable of my resto S3 (standard carb). The cable is too long and I wondered if this is common and what the work around is?
Thanks in anticipation.

Fit a solder less nipple at the headset end and adjust accordingly the inner to suit

Are you saying that the outer cable is too long ? If it is just cut and get the end ferrule back on. If you still have one of the old cables it's a good idea to use the metal ferrule off that as they are normally fatter and grip on the base of the headset better.
The inners are always longer. If it comes with large nipple pre-soldered on that goes in the brass wheel at headset end and a solderless nipple at carb end....OR you may just have a small pre-soldered nipple in which case that goes at carb end and you fit a solderless nipple at throttle wheel. Trim to suit.

If you have to get another assembly, the cable I had from Scoot Restorations was a perfect fit, dropped straight on.

You might have wrong cable, standard set up,should pop straight in,make a call to scooter restoration, tell them your set up they will send you correct one,I had a lot of problems with a wrong choke cable once, made hot starting a nightmare for years because of a doctored cable, the correct one is out there should pop right in
