Ser2 6v DC electrical problem ( again)

Rebuilt a Ser2 to original 6v DC spec Filso ignition, got all done, good spark, carried on with other bits got petrol tank in started and run, but cut out after a few seconds, now no spark, connections into regulator not good so pulled the green wires out and connected them directly together, still no spark, power from stator green seems good, and to the coil, but no spark, do green wires have to go through regulator to work. seems like the coil is the problem, tried a Ducati coil but didnt help. Any ideas

They don't need to go through the regulator, it's just a junction for the two greens to join.

If the loom or kill button is grounding out the ignition, you could test/bypass this by connecting the stator green straight to the coil by introducing an extra length of wire (any colour for the sake of testing). By not going via regulator/junction you can eliminate possible grounding issues, same as pulling the loom's green off a CDI.

Sorry, error, meant Ducati coil,There is a Filso coil on it, but haven`t got a spare Filso coil to try, only a 6v Ducati. I did wire it direct to coil but still no spark, given up now till tommorrow.

I don't have a Dansi coil but I might have a spare stator that you could try.

Ok, let me know how you get on and whether you want me to start digging stuff out.

Actually it is not Dansi ignition its Filso, may explain why the Ducati coil didnt work

check your points - is there still a gap? Sometimes they close up if the screw isn't tight enough, or if you haven't lubricated the cam, they can wear pretty quickly. Also check the connections on the condenser - if it's the solder type they can be easily be cold soldered. Give the wires a good pull to check they are well soldered.

Does it really matter what the brand of the coil is?

Surely it's only purpose is to take the pulse produced by the LT coil when the points open and step up the voltage?
