Had clutch slip on sil gp200 so fitted new clutch plates(corks) and now have drag.thought it was cable stretch but keep adjusting it and it's ok for a while but then drags again causing stalls at lights etc.i used scootopia standard 4 plate clutch plates.do I need thinner steels.cheers

did you check your steels were straight and did you file off any unevenness on the clutch basket where the tangs of the clutch are

Recently fitted some quality clutch plates only to find recurring clutch drag.The new plates were 14mm total new but after only a few hundred miles I found they had expanded to 15mm when I took them out.With a clutch compressor fitted I found it is only 4mm of movement of the clutch compressor bolt to release fully the plates so you have very little room for error. Eventually solved problem with mixture of old and new plates with total thickness of 13.5 mm measured with digital calipers.
Check your basket and steel plates for any burrs.With chaincase on holding clutch lever in whilst operating kick start will give an idea how free the plates are

If your top cork is well in the crownwheel change the usually 3 mm GP top steel to a thinner 2 mm one.
