thinks i need may a new sliding dog in gearbox of my S2
it wont stay in 1st gear?

which do i go for? as hear so many storys of Chocolate cheap shittte etc??

Genuine SIL all day for me strikes the balance between price and quality.
Got 1000s of miles on them in sx and gp both TS1.

Just bought a sil one from Sr. Looks good fits well but not tried it on a running motor yet

if I remember stay away from the silver/light grey looking sliding dogs as they're made of cheeeeeeeese

getting an SIL sounds good enough for me !

Personally, I would bet to differ. I fitted a new SIL one and it was very hard to change gear. When I stripped it again and compared it to a new more expensive Italian one I had bought as a replacement I could see why. The Italian one was smooth so the balls flowed readily up and down the slopes. The SIL one (not a dodgy eBay purchase either) was roughly cast and the balls weren't flowing easily over the casting of the sliding dog.

It's usually better to have your balls being able to move around freely - unless you're in the 100 metre final.

SIL ones sometimes need a tidy up with a diamond needle file and some emery paper on the two legs that contact the balls but other than that they're good.

had it happen to me aswell, with a indian gp one ,went back to italian ,that was 28 years ago though

I'm currently using two Indian sliding dogs one in my TS1 and the other in my Cast iron 200.
The 200 currently makes more peak power than the TS1. Both SIL sliding dogs have been running ok.

Been using Indian ones in my sprinter for a long time, they seem OK to me, and of course a little cheaper than the remade Italian ones.
