Hi, I'm in mid Wales, about 50 miles west of Hereford. I'm looking for a reliable paint shop that will degrease, bead blast and powder coat my frame and panels. Does anyone know of such a place in my vicinity, I don't mind some travelling.

I can recommend North west Enamellers in Buckley. Not very close to you but I have used them many times over the years.

Thanks, that's about 2.5 hours drive for me, quite do-able. Have they done scooter bits? And is the finish quality?

I dont normally like powder coating unless its just as a base coat and wet paint is applied over the top,but a friend of mine had his scooter powder coated in a metalic blue and white by Midas Touch in Castleford,West Yorkshire and the finish is impeccable,in fact it looks every bit as good as a painted surface.I dont know how much it would cost for delivery,or how long it would take,but its worth giving them a ring.By the way they do powder coating in lots of different colours and they specialise in motorcycles and scooters.There website is http://www.midastouchgb.co.uk

One of the directors of Nwe has a couple of lambrettas. They know what parts need tlc. Phone them first as they can be busy at times.

I personally would only powder coat items like forks, seat frames, wheels etc. I have also had frames powder coated and then the loop sprayed over by my preference is paint. I wouldn't powder coat panel work.

There's Swifco in Weston Super Mare. They do good work, and not too far for you. And Scootopia are just over the road. So, it gets better and better.

It's along time since I sprayed a scooter (40 years ago) then I used cellulose, not sure what's on the market these days for DIY. I think my best option is to powder coat the bits near the ground and hidden under panels. Is powder paint compatible with other finishes?
