GP Headlight Rim

Is there any way of telling if a GP headlight rim is an original part, a remade Italian part or a piece of Vietnamese tin foil

I'm not sure there is. As far as I know there are no markings as such. Which is why finding a good rim is such a lottery. But, certainly the best rim I've come across is the Scootopia one. Which is as original, and the only one I've had which fits an original headset like a glove. That's digressing from your original question a bit I suppose. But, in the end that's what counts.

I think a lot of it is down to fit. Original ones (and the new scootopia ones) fit really well, whereas a lot of aftermarket ones don't.
