HI All
I'm trying to fit rear hub bearings and it seems very very tight I have used some Vernier callipers to measure the bearings and layshaft etc.

1979 GP200 india

Layshaft 24.91mm Bearing inner 24.86mm 0.05mm smaller

Gearbox 51.79mm Bearing outer 51.97mm 0.18 bigger
is it me or is that too much

Stating the obvious, but have you tried heating the casing ?. I find it better to use a hot air paint stripper gun rather than a naked flame.

From your post its not quite clear what you are trying to fit.If its the hub bearing into the case, then you should heat the case,as JETEX says to fit the bearing. What the layshaft and gearbox have to do with fitting the rear hub bearing,I'm at a loss to see :?:

Is it an Innocenti layshaft? as some Indian layshafts/rear hub brgs tolerances can be a smidging out on the Italian ones :o
that's why there's a market for used / 2nd hand GOOD Italian rear hub brgs :D

Hi All,
Thanks for the replies.
I have tried heating the casing with no joy so I got in touch with the supplier of the bearings and they said to put bearings in the freezer !!!
then heat the casing.
I have done this and the bearings fitted like a glove.
I also put the layshaft in freezer and heated the inside of the bearing and the layshaft also fitted like a glove with no problems after putting everything back together.

Thanks again
