Exhaust nuts which way round?

Postby Lambr62 » Sun Jan 10, 2016 6:04 pm

Hi ,
Does it matter which way round these are put back on? For example plain portion of nut nearest manifold or other way round? Can't remember which way round they were in my enthusiasm to remove them. :? Thanks for any help. Happy New year to every one. :)

What is the reason for them fitting this way . Does the rounded bit compress when tightened ?

Because they're soft brass, it stops the hexagonal bit distorting which would make it difficult to get your spanner on or off.
