Avanti Kelvinator

Postby Jono » Wed Jan 27, 2016 9:41 pm

Have noted body work and frame for Avanti Kelvinator on eBay.
As I have over recent years restored 2 SIL GPs and a Spanish Li and have lots of bits left over including a complete GP 150 good engine. My question - is the Kelvinator under the exterior panels the same as a SIL GP, engine mounting etc.

Clearly I understand it's not Italian, just fancied the challenge of a restoration to use up all the parts in my garage.

There was a write up in one of the Scootering issues last year someone will be along shortly to tell you which.

I believe it's a bit of a hotch potch of features but the basics are the same.

Hi,
I had a Kelvinator for a while, and Yes, all the normal Lambretta parts, engine etc will fit fine.
Headset is a different shape but control rods etc also swap over.

As above, ugly but quite smart in its own right :D

Don't the legshields slide over the fork tube too? Meaning you have to fit them before the headset top.

I'd quite like one if it was cheap enough but I have a taste for the oddballs...
