Differences in repair shop manuals?

Hi there,

Does anyone know if the content is exactly the same in the following manuals?:

http://www.scooterrestorations.com/lamb ... pair-shop/ - English language
http://www.scooterrestorations.com/lamb ... etta-p-86/ - Italian language.

I have an Italian import S2 Li150 with the weird earth through brake light electrical setup and my brake light is very dim so was hoping that the Italian language manual might have information specific to this setup, but obviously if the English version is a direct copy then it will be easier to read however I don't think this type of electrical circuit was used for the British market.

Or if anyone know why my brake light might be dim then I'm all ears if it'll save me forking out more money! I've checked all the obvious stuff, earths and brake light switch.

Thanks,
Rog

Yes, it's the later S2 tail light so just has the one dual filament bulb, I've had the flywheel remagnetized and the running lights are lovely and bright but the brake light works but is much dimmer than the running light so not sure it would get through an MOT like that :? .

With the electrical setup I have the brake light power actually comes from the ignition coil on the stator and not the lighting coil.

Are you sure that the two wires feeding the tail lamp haven't been transposed ? easily done. Tail light filament is 3W ( usually pretty dim )and brake light filament is 15W (very bright )
Try changing the leads over you should be able to access the connectors above the rear mudguard .

On this model it looks like the brake light earths via the brake pedal so that is the most likely source of high resistance from a poor contact

here are some pdf schematics you can download. http://www.scooterhelp.com/electrics/pages/_LI150.2.html

If you havn't already got it,buy "The complete spanner's manual" second edition,it has all the wiring diagrams in it and I suspect the wiring diagram for your scooter is on page 263.

Swap the wires as already mentioned and if its a single pole brake switch it will be going to earth through the switch. check for powder coat or paint on the fixing points or swap it for a 2 pole switch ( you may struggle to find a single contact one anyway) if its already a 2 pin connection its earthed at the light

Thanks for the replies guys, good news I managed to fix the light tonight! Like many of these problems it was the simplest of issues.
Posting some info here just in case anybody else needs the info in the future.

My bulb was a 6v 15w/3w and I have the single connection brake light switch, the wires going into the bulb holder were correct, they are colour coded red, black and green earth wire.
Now the problem....bad earth on the bulb! I cleaned the wiring bullet connections and where they connect to the bulb holder but the issue persisted, it wasn't until I wiggled the bulb in the holder that it magically came to life! I think the metal part of the bulb needs a clean connection to the holder.

Before video, sorry the quality is bad, was trying to use brake pedal and film with phone :?
