Leaky fuel

Postby Chilli » Mon Feb 22, 2016 1:21 pm

My Li125 silver special has started leaking fuel out of the bottom of the air filter as soon as I turn the choke on, any ideas guys, it's been idle for a while owing to the incessant rain

i assume you mean from the air hose? Sounds like the float may be stuck down and allowing fuel to flow straight through?

too early to say, youll need to get the carb off and strip it, could be an easy fix as it may just be the needle perished, but could also be a swollen float stuck down, or even a punctured float?

Mine did exactly the same,it was in the garage for a few weeks and when I took it out and turned the petrol on it came out of the overflow on the carb.I have a 22mm jetex carb and they are renown for having a sticking float, the float usually sticks on the pin holding it into the float chamber.I had previously stripped the carb down and I ran a drill through the float by hand until it was free. When I took the scooter out of the garage and it started to pour out of the overflow, rather than take the carb off and strip it down, which is a right pain,I used a screwdriver and with the handle I tapped the float bowl and this freed the float and its been OK since.
