when to change bearing cup

Hi All

I am wondering when to change the 4 fork bearing cup.

The sticky only mention the bottom one which I will - pitting is worth that what is shown on the book. The bottom fork one is good.

Now, the top ones on the S3 I am restoring show holes (due to oxydation) in the grooves where the bearing will stand. However these bearing don't rotate that much. So, with grease in, I am wondering if this is a problem and whether fitting new repro parts wouldn't be worth that keeping original ones.

Kind regards

Renaud

Best to change if there is pitting or indentations. Your steering will feel smoother and less chance of play. Some of the pattern top cups are not machined deep enough for the balls to sit in so watch out for that.
