Front damper kits.

Any feedback on the clamp on kits, the ones that look like original period accessories? I've seen the Modern BGM types and I'm sure they're brill but not the look I want on my original paint S2.

This might cause a little controversy, but your choice of standard dampers is a good one, IMHO.

(For all the trick dampers available, Ryan Saxelby used them @ Cadwell Park last season which is some testimony as his was arguably the fastest bike & rider out there, despite any lap times you might have seen. We also removed his anti-dive on the Sunday….)

That leaves you to just select the fitting kit.

There are various kits & the top mounts are all fairly similar & function well. However, personally, I would avoid the clamp on bottom kits & replace your links or have them modified to suit. The money you’ll save by not indulging in ‘trick’ dampers will offset the cost.

I would avoid the clamp on mounting brkts, get them welded on, and avoid the brkt type fork links- they dont look safe to me.
go for the fork links with the integral mounting point and the best dampers you can afford.
Ive got the MBB dampers and they look the business.

only experience i have with the bolt on bottom is i keep getting the axle nuts coming loose so will be looking at new links

Terry, get your links modified to take the damper studs. I had mine done by Steve Allen. I think he's on here, but if not, I should have his contact details if you want them. Top job, quick turnaround and very reasonable price.

Thanks for the replies. Concensus seems to be not to use them but have welded on top mounts and modified links.

If you can afford to do so, you might be best to buy a set of forks to swap over @ your convenience.

Should you wish to keep them as SII, you could use TV175 (if you can find them) or modify any SII to your requirements. That way, you can have them completely ready, in a finish of your choice & fit them when it suits.
