Silme GP seat

I have a Silme seat that came without the catch that attaches to the frame. I know that originally the catches were the same sort of ones that the Giuliari has ie looks like a shoe horn has been soldered on a plate.

I bought a new catch but it is the best part of an inch out, so to catch properly the "shoe horn" part needs to be more central.

Before I take the grinder to the "shoe horn" does anyone know whether the Silme seat is materially different to the Giuliari?

ps. Initially I thought the issue was that the seat frame was bent, however, it isn't.

Hi - I had real fun trying to find a catch for my guillari seat. I must have bought 3 until I found one that actually fitted...is yours like this : -very offset to the upper rhs?

Same here, bought a couple and in the end had it cut off, repositioned, welded and the hole drilled out to the correct size

Hi, I did know whilst I was trying to find a seat for my gp. But my memory is awful.

I believe the silme seat is a bit different as fitting a replacement cover is a nightmare compared to a giuliari.

I have a spare catch somewhere, if you can take a pic of where your catch is and mine fits your welcome to have it.

Thanks for the replies. I shall have a look in the morning and take some measurements.

Mine is a new seat cover and, come to think about it, it did have Silme written on it. It went on quite easily. Maybe they are a bit different :?:

I do have both, but they are languising in the darkest recesses of my shed at the moment. I think there is a difference, from what I remember. Not to the overall shape, but to the aperture feeding the air scoop. There is a more pronounced bar on the Giuliari. But that's about it.

From taking a few simple measurements with the seat raised, it should all line up. So, I'd say the generic remade seat catch that fits the Giuliari, does fit this too.

Anyway, I'm glad I took this photo as I realised I haven't put any rubber bungs on

A bit more fettling required then :)
