Ideas/Help

Just had my GT200 resprayed and in the process of the rebuild I came to refit the bottom headset (baring in mind this bike was a complete running scoot 6 weeks ago)
the headset wont seat properly on the top of the forks, I would say there is about 5-10mm left between the headset clamp and the top of the fork stem to get it completely down,
the front of the headset is clashing with the chrome ring and the back of the headset is nowhere near the chrome ring
the chrome ring appears to be seated correctly as the grub screw is in the hole through the frame
bearing race etc appears to be fitted correctly
any ideas/thoughts or am I taking the forks out and starting again?
I know pics would be helpful but I forgot to take any
cheers

Make sure the headset clamp is bolted completely flat to the headset.

Have you you bolted the clamp under the headset lugs and not above them?

Sorted it last night
lets just say it involved a foreign body getting in the way that I hadn't seen, until I revisited it last night and realised what a complete arse I had been
