Today I went for and MOT on the way my hydraulic front brake locked on me would not release

Found the fault the idiot who installed tied the hose to the forks the hose was 3 inches to long and kinked at greater that 90 degrees then pressure could not bleed off

New hose bought, fitted, new brake fluid -- no way would the brakes bleed 4 hours wasted time WHY

On the floor I found a small stainless steel flap valve small round solid piece with an offset and then another round section with location pegs hard to describe I do not think its anything to do with the brakes

In the reservoir there are 2 holes for fluid to enter piston is there any chance this bit is part of that tried comparing on web pages noting seems to be present

SO Can anyone advise me please before I take it the the bike shop

Had exactly the same fault 3 weeks ago, spent 2 days trying it myself, brought a vacuum pump bleed system....nothing...

Mot guy then spent 3 hours trying to bleed it, changed every component 1 at a time, end result was the new brake hose banjo at the master cylinder end was not straight (unseen by the naked eye) but enough to suck in air, result was....filed down the top banjo and works fine...

The stainless flap is a push fit in the reservoir bottom over one of the holes and one of the main problems with the RS disc is the banjo bolts( if using the kit ones) are too long on the shoulder and the bolt bottoms out before trapping the sealing washers ,so either machine the shoulder down, change the bolts or fit thicker washers.

Should the SS flap be held in place and what use does it serve

Banjo bolts do trap the washers and no leaks are apparent

Going to use the syringe and push the fluid up from the bleed nipple anyone done this before

Terry -- I did the reverse bleed method with a syringe on my outboard disc set up, took me 15 mins, easy peasy after trying to bleed them old school for days. Once I had the Reservoir full & o air in the system as a belt & braces job I put a bleed hose from the bleed nipple into some brake fluid in a jar and gaffa taped the brake lever in overnight just to be sure.

Its absolutely perfect now -- G

I Think the SS flap is a red herring something from somewhere else one day I will remember where

Got the syringe and some tube

Filled syringe and tube with brake fluid

Fitted tube to bleed nipple opened the bleed nipple

Pressed the syringe and like magic the oil started to fill reservoir

Job done what a good idea its so easy
