can anyone recommend a brand of tank sealer.and the best type of place to to get it.eg:do car accessory shops supply it.

I've used the tankcareproducts on a couple of tanks that have needed welding, one Diablo for a Lambretta and an original Vespa Rally one. I thoroughly cleaned them, obviously, before welding and only used the sealant because they were being welded. If you meticulously follow the instructions and ensure you buy enough of the sealant, the product is very good.

If the tank is generally sound and just rusty and/or covered in oily sludge, personally, I have just followed this:

It works a treat and is cheap (I have done this twice too). Do be careful though. You're dealing with nasty stuff

This good stuff I have sealed my two tanks without any problems.

I've used PQR15 from Frost auto restorations .....cracking stuff....in the tank for 2 years now without problems......

thanks for replies.sounds like two good products there.my tank is not in bad nick,give it the nuts and bolts treatment and refitted.just getting some small rusty bits still coming out,and a few passing the inline filter.as its a new build I don't want to take chances.probably describe it as light surface rust at worst.just looking at one of the websites which describes de-rust and de-ox ? treatment before sealing.i want to do it right but this sounds a bit ott.any thoughts please?

I've done quite a few tanks now & always cleaned them by using sharp Flint type stones & thinners give the tank a good shaking then remove the stones & thinners and clean out with fresh clean thinners then dry with compressed air or just put it in the sun

If you are more urban based you could old nuts and bolts or ball bearings. Diesel or paraffin is also good.
