Registration for import provided by DVLA

Postby 69GP225 » Sun Jun 26, 2016 12:26 am

Hello,

Need your thought here.

During the past month I've been applying for a registration for my sx150 1967. I have the original docs from Italy stating Sept 1967. 3 owner bike. I provided a copy of the Italian log book together with the LCGB authenticity certificate which clearly states 67.

To my surprise they issued a registration for 1968?...... FMA 473F

Is this right and do I accept the registration provided?

Thanks lee

Maybe because it's a late 67' theyve gone for a 68' numberplate as it probably wouldn't have been registered until 68' anyway.

My li150 is a 61' but first registered in the middle of 62'!

Or the DVLA has a lot of 68' numberplatesto get rid of.

Coincidentally I've just registered my 68' special and it's come back with FMA 393F.

In 1967 they changed the month that the letter would start.1967 was a year when both "E" and "F" were used."E" was used from Jan to July inc.And "F" was used from Aug 67 to July 68 inc.

Exactly right Paul. The reason for the change was so there would not be a peak of new registration on the 1st of January each year.
The change to August for the year letter created 2 peaks in the end which we still have today all be it in September and March now.

Great appreciate the help guys.

I found the registration process painless to be honest. Guess some of us are lucky..
You just need to remember everything the request.

Thank you.

No problem mate.

The guy who visited my house to inspect the bikes frame & engine number didn't have a clue where the number was located. I was away but my bro in law had to walk round to show him. Found that rather hilarious.took 1 week to receive the reg document from the time the inspector visited.

I thought the DVLA kept the LCGB authentication letter but they send it back to me.?

Thanks Lee
