gear pulleys

Postby eyeguy » Fri Jul 01, 2016 2:46 pm

on my 62 Li 125/3 it appears the gear pulleys should be bronze. I have a guy that has marked them to be zinc coated. He did clean them and they are bronze color. I'm not sure what to do with them.

Thanks
Glenn

I’ve only ever seen the common splined brass ones as you probably have. I’m unaware of any finish ever being applied to them :?:

They are the correct ones for your scooter ;) the others being the later, poor compromise cost cutting nylon (pinned) or in the case of the Serveta, lightweight aluminium splined :)

Crikey!

I suppose they should be whatever a ‘brass pressing finish’ is….

Bearing in mind that they are potentially 40-odd years old, ‘dull’ sounds about right to me, considering you never hardly see them if the headset top is fitted!

How far do you take the OEM look? Taken to the extreme, you wouldn’t use electronic ignition or PHBH carbs…Oops! That’s me!

But polishing up the brass pulleys? I suppose if you’re the type that has creases pressed in your underpants ‘just in case’ then, yes, by all means polish the b*ggers…

Hi Crikey, Good point. once the headset is on, out of sight and out of mind. I will leave them as they are.

Thanks to all
