Somewhere along the way my itilian GP picked up an indian speedo.
I"m not bothered by the Foriegn object (little pun intended).
What bothers me is the unobtainable 120mph staring at me,.
I want to change it to an equally unaobtainable 90mph white faced item but cant bring Myself to loose
my hard earned milage.
Are the remade ones robust enough to take apart spin the wheels and putback together.
Btw its far to many miles to use a drill.
Any tips appreciated.

I believe that you can just buy a replacement face. Scooter Restorations do one but out of stock at the moment.
Must be others if you search the net.

I tried to do this on my LI. The workings tend to be brass worm drive meshing with a brass drive to the rotating wheels. The remade ones are nylon. They are a million miles apart quality wise. I don't want to be accused of telling you how it's done but a few screws and it's a simple matter of turning the tumblers. I would stop early and use the drill to go onto the numbers you want so everything lines up. Or you can end up with a digit half and half. I did mine to retain the original mileage/kilometres. The gauge was bust so no pain no gain. Unfortunately as it went onto 1 more thousand miles it stuck. The speedo worked but the teeth on the drive had worn out. Basically not worth the fuss. I now have a digital speedo and I lost the instructions on how to set the wheel diameter for the correct speed. I would need to change this then do a drill with a magnate to wind it on to the correct setting. The bloody MOT man keeps recording the trip mileage anyway. Not worth the fuss.

Unfortunately I don't think the face swap will work as they're different speeds.
Guess I'll just have to keep tuning till I get to 120mph.

ZX10R engine will do it, probably go onto around 160....

If you remove the mechanism it's quite easy to alter the tumblers (?) even if it is a bloody fiddle. I've done one myself. Although I've not used it since and I'm a bit dubious as to whether it will work or not.

Jem Booth is your man to answer this question, he's repaired two original speedo's for me and set the clock to 0,000 on both.
Only used the SX one so far & it's been spot on.

Jem also did my Tv1 speedo and can calibrate original ones to within 1mph..

Unless I'm missing something, which is quite possible.
At 60mph my needle is roughly in the middle.
If I just changed the face it would read 45.
