Setting gears '

Postby Vmakgp » Thu Jul 14, 2016 10:18 pm

I've just spent the day trying to set and adjust the cables and I've failed 'when I managed to get first it was six or seven mill past the arrow ,then ide take it back to nuteral & it would then jump into second when I spun the back wheel , at one stage I had it going upto fourth & then nothing would not change back down , there's a bit of ware on the gear linkage play on the main gear pivot pin , the clutch Spring seams weak as well so I'm going to order a new gear linkage & clutch Spring tomorrow . When I stripped the engine a replaced the sliding dog, the Spring & the pawles drive bearing , we'll all bearings , could it be a mixture of worn parts & maybe the new pawles being stiff & needing wearing in ??
I did check the end plate float and ended up with a 1.5 spacer .
Any suggestions :(

Well got to the bottom of the problem , cut an inch & a half of the outer gear cable , & a stainless washer under the circlip on the gear pivot pin & gears work a treat now onto the clutch cable as that's two long and giving to much play at the leaver , :D :D
