Hi all,
I need some input on this........
My SIP speedo has started to freeze and show 124mph, rpm needle creeps up to 12000 rpm then all goes blank except the frozen temperature reading.
I've searched for some info, older posts on other forums seem to indicate it is an issue of using non resistor spark plugs.
Thing is, I have a resistor plug fitted, unless of course my plug is starting to fail.
Only thing that has changed from my old set up is I have fitted a Casatronic ignition, converted to DC, of course.
I did change the pulse settings in the speedo for the new system too.
Just looking to find out if these symptoms have been experienced by anybody else before I start diagnosing the problem.

Yep, but I also disconnected this to eliminate the AC as a culprit but the speedo did the same thing.
Funnily enough I have had the bike out for a run today and the speedo never went off, I'm beginning to suspect the spark plug suppression resistor is beginning to break down intermittently. I'll try a new spark plug once I have the jetting set up.

Update..........
I think I have found the problem, a dodgy spark plug cap that has lost the ability to grip the plug!
The cap has been loose, and no doubt the dodgy connection has been causing interference to the cylinder head sensor, there was evidence of arcing on the plug connector.

Another update.......
The loose plug cap does seem to have been the culprit in this case. Out for a few hours today and the speedo was trouble free after a new plug cap was fitted, connected the AC supply too, rev counter working too.
All this new fangled technology....................
