jet 200, lifelong tanks

sorry but another tank question, one of the above would fit the bill very well for me....however, I know they have a problem with the cap being hard to undo but that's all I know about it so... what causes the problem? is it every one or just some that are affected? ive read that dremmeling a bit off the inner lip helps ( though Id be cautious about doing this and invalidating the warranty) is this right?, ive also heard that they are working on a new design cap....do we know anything about this? cheers

I have one in my series 2, and you're right, if you really tighten it down it's a pig to undo. However, there's no need to do that.
I just tighten it so it just 'bites' on the cap seal and it's fine and easy to undo the next time. I think though, if you have a bolt down seat, it could be a bit of a pain, as the neck / cap of the tank is quite low within the frame.
Other than that, a good tank. ( so far! )

Vaseline is a petroleum product that will be fine on the thread & gasket/sealing face.

I use Vaseline (it's not just not just for bedroom Olympics ) but on standard Lambretta tank caps & plastic fuel tanks that never leak despite being un-vented. I can even undo the caps with my weaker 'Lambretta-Gear-Change/Clutch' hand

How do these tanks breath? Is there a vent somewhere?
