Hi,

I want to get the fuel flap off my series 2. Before I start hitting the end of the hinge pin with a drift and hammer, is the a clever way to get it out?

Cheers!

Not done one on s2 but think there the same as s3 spray penetrating oil on first and use a small toffee hammer type with as small drift (nail) or similar you can find once you get the hinge pin moving you may be able to finish pulling it out with pliers mole grips .
The pin on mine was badly worn anyway so I bought a new one from S/R .I seem to remember the pin may only go in /come out one way one end may have a stop on it. :?: just be gentle as the hinge could be easily bent by too much force.

As above, very small drift or nail will drive it out and only use a lightweight hammer, sledgehammer will balls it completely..

Thanks for the tip. Can it be drifted out from either end?

Cheers

I would try very gently from one end and see if the hinge pin moves or feels solid ,if it feels solid try tapping gently the other way you should see some movement you may have to spray penetrating oil a few times and work the pin back and forth .
I dont think the pins are particularly tight they just get badly worn over time .
Give it a go ;)
