Petcock

Can someone tell me if this was the original petcock. I just bought a Li 150 special. As far as I know the have always been silver in color. As you can see this is brass. Okay can't attach photo due to board attachment quota has been reached. I assume this is the sites server. So I am posting the question anyway. If possible I will post pic when able.

The first square bodied fuel taps were made from brass,this was later changed to aluminium.

well i went down to the shed and upended all my junk boxes and look what I found ! :D

the original tap from my Feb 1964 LiS150 special . Not sure if this is original or not though
Ignore the metal tab on the end of the spindle. (Some Italian DIY when the shaft broke )

when I got mine, the petcock was square brass

Well still can't upload photos. I've uploaded before with no problem. File is not to large as it has been resized.

It is square. So I think it must have been original. I will try again later to send pic

Petrol tap or petrol cock.

Cock is another word for a valve or tap - as in seacock - used on ships to let in seawater to the bilge for ballast or to scuttle the ship.

I believe all the original early square OMG taps were brass. These look great polished up..

thanks for the replies guy's. Sorry about the Americanism word petcock. It's funny I thought you guy's called it that :lol: I would rather call it a fuel tap.
