Trimmed side panels

How's best to finish edges off after trimming side panels. Can they be folded over as originally done

Any type of steel panel once cut should really be folded at the edge for rigidity, an alternative is a piece of 3-4mm round steel rod welded to just above the edge and then folded under the steel rod..

Thanks for that. So you would weld the rod to the back of the panel and then turn the panel edge back. Then weld the joint at the top ? To seal it

Yes, use a mig welder though on a low setting and spot weld rather than seam weld to minimise distortion. Grind the welds down with a dremel drum disc for a neat job and use a thin bead of seam sealer afterwards along the joint before painting..
