I was very lucky to be given a free series 3 standard exhaust box by a fellow LCGB member a couple of years ago (thanks again- forgotten who you are sorry) and on fitting said pipe to my standard SX150 I noticed that the down pipe wasn't the best fit in the world. It seemed to have a slightly wider u- shape if you know what I mean and the pipe would only fit the main exhaust body if you pulled it in and on the box. I wasn't really happy with this as the studs would be put under a lot of strain so went sorting through some of mine spare u-bends and luckily found one at the right angle for the box. Now I remember trying without much success to fit a friends standard jet200 exhaust to my 150 (naïve 18 year old at the time) so I immediately thought that maybe this was a 200cc standard pipe but then finding the u-bend which did fit kind of put paid to that idea. The long and the short of this rambling post is - are there differences between a standard 125/150 to 200 exhaust and are there difference between Italian, Spanish and Indian pipes. The u-bend I've got is falling to bits and I need to find a replacement but don't want to waste cash buying numerous u-bends to see if one of them fits. Cheers Paul

I don't have an answer that is technically correct but I have half a dozen boxes all for 200 engines and there are a lot of differences between the u-bends. All standard type exhausts but probably different manufacturers.

You have me thinking now. I have a late SX 200 from Spain. I fitted a standard GP 200 exhaust I got from AF this year. It went straight on BUT the u-bend and clamp are only 2mm from the cross member. My old AF Clubman was no where near it and fitted well. They must be all different.

sadly it seems the case that lots of things now made for our scoots are specially made slightly wrong cos not enough people really care wether it fits or not
in my experience you'll struggle to fit one downpipe to another brand of silencer, good luck

Yeah it is a lottery when it comes to bits these days, I think my pipe might be a standard SIL affair however knowing what the quality control is like with some of the Indian stuff- that could be a wild goose chase as well

Cheers Paul
