Right folks, here's a question.

In the next few months we are going to be updating the Complete Spanners Manual for Lambretta and I'm looking for your suggestions on stuff I should change or add.

1. Are there any corrections that you've noticed I should fix?
2. Is there anything you'd suggest that we can add as a section?
3. Are there any newly-developed parts that you think we should cover?
4. Do you know any new techniques that we should add?

A bit about the basics of advance retard ignitions as these are becoming the norm.

Perhaps a bit about basic long-stroke format, based on 60mm stroke cranks becoming a common upgrade.

Advice and tips for swapping out hub studs for tubeless (or simply for hub repair).

Hydraulic front brake upgrades.

also once you have your lambretta fully registered a full chapter on

how to change your LI125 shopping trolley into a genuine euro rally compatible scooter

as in sit at 55-65 all day reliably with decent electrics/lights tyres suspension brakes etc

do this in a cheapskate - affordable - money no object sections

you dont have to denigrate anyone's products just "recommended through use"

these product have proven to be up to the job......

also same again with carriers/panniers/sat navs/chargers etc

so if i was 30 had only ever driven an auto scooter how could i

realistically set about getting to euro 2018 with a pushed out of

an italian cellar and brought over in a van - 1962 LI125 lambretta

as previously mentioned, more Spanish stuff espcially the lince/lynx . Paul

My immediate thoughts, which I hope you may consider are:

If some product or another is claimed to be better, I feel that there should be validation of it, rather than presuming that to be the case. Although lay-shafts & hubs may spring to mind, the rash of alloy gear change linkages may look worthy of appearing on page three of the Sun, but, how durable are they sat atop the equivalent of a road drill?

I’m not questioning any integrity of the purpose of the manual, because it clearly was prepared to point out misgivings with certain products, such as certain Vietnamese tubeless wheel rims...

I wouldn’t have thought it beyond your remit to have port diagrams of the proliferation of kit cylinders. Similarly, perhaps relevant piston & con-rod dimensions along the lines of what Grampian Motors produced would be good reference.

The manual has previously pointed out what other vehicles are prime sources of components for adapting to Lambrettas. The best coil to use with points is a prime example. That could be extended to clutches, ignitions as well as pistons & con-rods (as mentioned above)
