Can anyone recommend a decent disc brake kit for a GP150 please?
I've seen em on evilbay for £250. Would prefer a rear set, but they do look big bucks :o

In different times (about 20 years ago...) you'd have lifted the complete front end from a GP200 & fitted it. As the result, you would have neatly transformed from what you have now, to a set of forks with dampers & a disc brake, cable operated, that would work well if the reverse pull modification was carried out. That's what I did with my only GP 150.

That may not be such an easy option these days, but it is the first option to consider that utilises standard parts.

If that is a 'Stage I', then Stage II would be as above but a hydraulic conversion to the standard Innocenti disc.

After that, there are all kinds of external disc options, but beware of some of the claims for their performance.

Ultimately, there are still internal disc brakes used in racing that would appear to work as well as the majority of external disc set ups.

As for the 'rear set' you speak of, that applies only to the back brake, & as the front does something like 70% of the braking, they are best left to those that must want them for other reasons that I cannot equate with, personally. ;)

I would look to suppliers like Just Lambretta for a good quality set up at a competitive price. Others also do them but the owner is an active rider and uses his products 8-). Ebay can be a bit pot luck unless you know the supplier.

I know it's not really answering the OP's question, but I've got an original disc brake that's not even reverse pull, and it will stop you dead. The secret is bedding them in correctly and avoiding glazing.

That's interesting. What pads do you use? :o

IMHO Scootering Magazine or somebody should research braking. A front brake 'shoot out' is long overdue ;)

Drum brake on my sx150 outperformed the original disc on my sx200 before I sold it. IMO a well set up front drum works superbly

I can't remember what pads they were WT. I do have some original pads in another disc and that's pretty good too. But yes, drum brakes can be just as good. I've had to stop a bit sharpish on them on occassion.
