Bit of advice, not sure wether to fit a sip or vapor speedo, does the vapor need a battery? And any pro's or con's for one against the other.

Gizmo....How's your eyesight?
If its as aged and long sighted as mine then all you will see with a SIP is the digital speed readout and possibly the analogue revcounter (These can be inversed on the later models)
I have one, and although it works very well I can't see the temperature or odometer displays without my glasses and if I wear my glasses I can't see the road properly. So, glasses under a fullface helmet get the boot. I can see the speed display and that fulfils any legal obligation.
I have no experience with other brands but if you are of a certain age then Size matters. This may well have an important influence on your decision.

What we really need is a heads up display built into the helmet.

Jeeps, sounds like me. Might be just as well sticking to a shaky needle.

I've had the Vapor in the past which was good, but I'm currently using a GammaTech and it's superb. Really easy to set up and use. I'd definately recommend it.

I'd like to see a proper made one for the series 3 headset with large digits showing MPH,CH temp and EGT. I could live with RPM on an arc bargraph. Odometer could be small or on a next page.

Gizmo,
The answer to your problem might be vari-focal glasses. It did it for me.
Just bring another option to the table, there are a range of products from Acewell. Big digital read-out, plus temp gauges and idiot lights. I like mine.

Do all these just require a live feed in headset without using an independent battery? I have never bothered previously but in process of building a RB 25 and would like to be able to keep an eye on temperature readings
