Rear shock recommendations?

I need a new rear shock for my S1. I want something with decent performance, but not too hard ride wise. I have an old Escort damper, which I like, an Italian made standard damper, which I don't really like and a 180lb R1 which I find too hard. I often ride 2 up and carry a fair bit of gear. So what would you recommend? Cheers

Escort for me. Not the type you hire on an hourly basis i hasten to add.

Hi Steve, I've been using a Bitubo adjustable spring for the last 7 years and I can't fault it . Had to do this years C to C on it 2 up with Petec, we still had suspension and you've seen the size of us two ! They're a bit expensive at the moment , but thats my recommendation and if I needed a new one I'd get another !

Me too...its doing a good job...and it needs to with me on it

Protech on my series 2 and its much better than the escort rider rear shock I usually use.

No seriously, I bought an Escort shocker at Donny Hunters do in the summer of 2010 (after the unknown one I had on gave up on the way ther) - £25 it cost me.

It's still on the TS1 now, 15,000 miles later and after I've carted various amounts of my own, and the Club Shop gear, around the UK and Ireland many times since then.

They've gone up to £35 now, so that works out as £8.75p a year, or less than 1p a mile.

Sometimes, it isn't the expensive stuff that proves to be the most effective and long lasting. If you need further convincing, I'll even let you have one a bit cheaper is you then promise to right an unbiased article in Jetset....
