Was being dragged round poor man's Tesco today and came across a caliper for 7 squid. Managed to hide it in with the spuds without being collared by her in doors.

Any tips for doing the Squish on a 175?

Those digital verniers are a bargain, also noted they've got the tap and die sets in again for about £14. Great tools at great prices in Aldi

I nipped in to Aldi on the way home from work this Afternoon and bagged the last vernier on the shelf .
I didn't manage to find the tap & die sets never mind I have a set .

I must have missed the taps, but bought a set of spanners I didn't need, oddly, they actually say 'Aldi' on the chrome, doubt they will be Snap on' standard, but the look well made.


Now how do ya squish?

Presumably you haven't got Sticky's excellent 'bible' which I would recommend. With acknowledgements to:

You measure the squashed solder that results in turning the piston once past TDC.

I hope that helps, in layman's terms....

Bought some great tools from Aldi to use on scooters.

Yep I also got a another set of digital calliper from Aldi, set number 3, I just cart resist buying them. I am always leaving the bloody things switched on and the batteries are flat when I go to use them, so I have a couple packets of batteries from pound land.

I don't know about the aldi ones, but I had a tap and Die set from Lidl, that includes M7.

M7 eh? We all like a Brucie-bonus

I got a tap and die set form Aldi a couple of years ago with M7. They have had quite a bit if use and still look brand new. The set also included a spark plug tap as well.

Cheers WT. I do have the bible, but was wondering what I was doing wrong, as I couldn't get a reading from the solder inserted. Guess my squish must be well out. But I suppose it's better than it being too near the head?
As mine is too low, how would I solve this, my gaskets are only slim so nothing to be had there.

To get the solder to give a reading, try twisting a loop up (into a spiral) & re-insert to test your squish.

As for head gaskets, personally I won’t use them, but it’s a matter of preference that some would disagree with...

Get some 3mm solder off fleabay, if you don't get a reading with that then you're well out.

My local Aldi had TS1 kits for £99.99 so I bought all the ones they had.
