S3 rear footboards on a GP ??

Will S3 rear footboards fit on a GP? .... and vice versa.

Looking at the difference in the 2 sets in Sticky's book [page 170] there's very little difference and no mention if the GP boards are Italian or Indian. I'm just guessing that they're Indian and have a flatter curve designed to give extra clearance for the longer finned flywheel cowl on Indian GPs, I can't think of anything else that's different in that area between S3 & GP. So if you're running a shortened fin [or Italian] flywheel & cover then they should fit.

Unless you're a stickler for detail I always understood that you can fit GP boards on an earlier S3, but not the other way around for some reason.

I hope I haven’t missed the point of your question. However, here goes:

The floorboards vary due to following the profile set by the side panels. There is a definite kink in the GP panels & consequentially, the floorboards have a similar corner whereas the SIII floorboards have a gentle curve. Having said that, they'll 'fit' but do look a bit sore TBH.

As for the fan cowling clearance, even without an extended cowling, sometimes I have resorted to tweaking the LH floorboard to increase or decrease clearance, dependent upon condition.

Good point, I hadn't considered the side panels, I'd just assumed that it was to do with the flywheel cowls. I'll dig out some boards and panels to see how different they look.
