Just sprayed a couple of bits with a rattle can and to be honest I'm quite pleased with the result. It's quite a shiny finish but the only problem is there are a few "blemishes" possibly where a bit of dust has been sprayed over etc. My dilemma is do I leave it and not stand the chance of ballsing it all up or is there a way of gently removing them and flattening it then getting the finish back to a nice shine? Can I rub them down with some very fine wet wet and dry and then polish with compound then t cut then polish and get a decent result? Any advice would be very helpful

You should be able to flat out any blemishes with some 1200 /1500 wet and dry put a few drops of soap /washing up liquid in the water to act as a lubricant.
Don't be tempted to do it too early wait a few days for the paint to fully harden.
Then compound /Tcut to bring the gloss back that's exactly what top end painters do .

Theirs always a risk of breaking through with rattle can type jobs because the paint is usually quite thin as opposed to professional 2 pack systems .
If you do breakthrough just re rubdown and paint again the key is to get everything smooth and clean use panel wipe and get some tack rags any paint supplier will have them .
Some of those auto parts places have quite well stocked paint supplies sections .
Use rubber gloves when you give the part the final clean before painting as your hands have oils on them which can contaminate the piece your working on.

The area or room you use needs to be draught free to prevent dust and debris getting on your work .
If you prepare everything correctly you should be able to get really good results.

Is that a solid colour or metallic? reason for asking is that metalics and pearls can't be 'blown in' like solid colours so yopu will have to spray the full panel...not a problem with something like a tool box door though.

If you can leave it a few days for the paint to harden before fitting,them tool box lids can be a bit fiddly and the paint may mark with thumb pressure if that makes sense.

Managed to get it fitted ok, the paint had had a few days to harder so was all ok. Cheers.
