OEM type have a slight resistance on compression, but primarily damp the rebound.

I've ridden road & track on bikes equipped with all types & have yet to feel compelled to use any different on my own machines, whereas rear dampers do vary considerably to the extent that handling is improved with, say, a well set up BGM on the back.

Really happy with the Targa line on my S2. But not cheap. It does give a better ride than my GP with escorts, but the S2 forks were rebuilt with progressive springs and new bushes. Where the GP is a few years old now.

I rode to Scarborough with Escorts, which I think are good having used them for several years. I rode back with a set of £30 Scootopia slimline ones. I didn't notice any difference in handling whilst riding or braking.

Good progressive springs are an ideal, relatively inexpensive addition to Lambretta forks & would still work out a less expensive package (c/w OEM dampers) than BGM/Targa type dampers on their own.

Escorts, Scootopia & AF Rayspeed are just a few of the dampers made to OEM (Original Equipment Manufacture) specification.
