OKO not OK

Now then chaps, been running a OKO 26mm carb, which I understand is cheap sh1te, but has been working fine recently ( all the way to Leek Jesters with bean can air filter). But it's developed a fault with the D slide. Basicly it's vibrating it's nuts off in the carb body. Apart from binning it and going to Jetex City, is there any way of rectifying it ?

The slides on these are prone to wear. Does the slide/ body show much wear?

Sometimes replacing it will cure it but it might be as cheap to get another carb.

The OKO ones are chrome plated for that reason so most probably the body that has worn. Do run it with a filter?

It's fairly new or unused, but is cheap, so you do get what you pay for.
I've got a mikuni and a PH 28mm delly, along with the old jetex.
Could never get delly set up right, so in the short term the jetex will go on, to get me to a few ride outs.
Long term, I think I will have to save up for something decent.
Any recommendations for a GP - iron 175 barrel with matched in/outlets and opened up ports plus Sterling pipe? Also have wrestled with the idea of going back to a 42 clubman, even though the sterling runs very well.

Mikuni TM24 would tick a lot of boxes.

Whatever carburettor is selected, the rubber mounting should mostly eliminate any inherent vibration issues.

There must be a lot of relatively happy users of the PWK type judging by other Forums, notably http://scootrs.com/tech.cfm?tip=jetpwk

Before you select any alternative, you might be better to look further into why your own carburettor has suffered in the way you describe.

The rubber sleeves rely on the carburettor remaining isolated by not allowing anything ‘upstream’ coming into contact with anything else, such as when the engine pivots, or there being simply too much mass to load them up.

Not all rubber carburettor rubber sleeves are of the same shore hardness & they all tend to harden up during use with petroil & age.

Thanks WT, I think it's because it a cheap copy. It was rubber mounted too. But hey ho' when your on a budget, you take a chance on cheap stuff.

I've got a few rallies coming up ( Horse shoe pass ride out sunday) and been working stupid hours, so old faithful jettex is back on and running.
