CDI Units

I seem to be going through a CDI unit a year on all of my scooters... intermittent problems.

Whats the preferred Brand... I've tried BGM, Ducati, Cheap Shit Blue ones etc... all seem to be the same.

Ironically it always used to be that Ducati were the preferred... but Ducati motorbikes are famed for their electrical issues...

I've got Ducati in all of mine and (touches wood) not had any issues. Also carry a Scootopia CDI as a spare but only tested to make sure it worked, so can't comment on longer term durability

Used to use the Ducatis all the time but last time one went I went for a bgm, POS blew within a month! Since then I have one of those cheap ones I picked up on ebay for 7 quid posted (over 2 years ago) and it's still on there, so bought another for a spare :-)

I've sold dozens of genuine Ducati CDI's through the Club Shop and not had any returned as failing?

There are lots of cheap copies of the Ducati CDI's out there available through auction sites, so you might want to ensure you are purchasing through a known source where you can return the CDI if it subsequently fails?

Genuine Ducati CDI for me, but I planning to try Anthony Tambs high output CDI for my next scooter. I have tried some of his other products and they are Ronseal.

Had one on my scooter for Adria and it didn't miss a beat also using one of his external pickups which has also been faultless.

Not as far as I know but he does have a page on Facebook, the CDI is a few posts down, it consists of a separate coil and Ant's own manufactured electronic unit all mounted on a plate, about £30
