its done 9 miles , was brand new on build, cable was pulled correctly on clutch setup so had a small amount of movement before engaging

Are you sure it was fitted the correct way and was free to return in the housing? There has to be a clearance issue, does the shaft cam snap back to the housing stop?

yep rock oil from scootopia AND Mike Pheonix both were sealed bottles used last of one and opened fresh bottle to top up !! it was a new plunger from scootopia new springs from mb i re used the clutch as it wasnt that old from another engine i had new scootopia clutch arm all checked and then doubled checked for freedom of movement , approx 2 mm of free play on clutch lever till cable started to pull new scootopia friction free cables , everything checked , rode to mot station and back and struggled to get gears on way back just thought it was new cable stretching got home went to adjust it and nearly wound to the end of the adjuster went down the road and back and it did the same , checked that the cable wasnt pulling through all was good , whipped the side off and the oil was awful and full of crap and the plunger was like this , as i said 9 miles

Hi
given you say you used a clutch from another engine, was the other engine a GP Engine that used the brass plunger?
Sorry for such an obvious question, but wear suggest point contact rather than a spread load.

Any chance of a picture of the assembled clutch assembly, focused on the point of contact for the brass thrust plunger.
Certainly something is a miss, never seen such wear from so little use.
Remember their two types of clutch assemblies used on Lambrettas, I was thinking the two types have been mixed.
One uses hardened steel thrust components the other the brass plunger thrust component.
Just a thought.

It's back together it was all taken from a running engine which was tired I only fitted a new plunger as I lost the original ,it ran without problems before that
