Will my GP headset fit on SX/Jet forks?
Or will GP gearchange and switch housing/throttle fit on SX/Jet headset?

I bought a new SX200 headset for my Jet ( lince 200 ) Did not fit at all, you will need the chrome ring headset without the ring. The light switches are made in Spain, nothing like GP. Regards

STP,
I believe the GP headset will fit without issues, but be aware that the GP headset has the handle bars at least an inch higher than the SX/jet ones, so you may feel that the riding position has changed.
As Jet frames are not chrome ring (I think none were chrome ring), it should go on OK.
I love GP's, but the headlight is awful. A round headlight is a better solution for putting the light in the correct place (why has no one made a GP headlight that can focus the light onto the road? There is a market for them). Just saying.

I understood that my Lince and others were never chrome ring, but all the forks ( Spanish ) are a different length to Italian. This was explained to me by a member on here who seemed to know what he was talking about. Hence the chrome ring headset. Only trying to help ?

Cheers got that. I know about the height difference in the frame but not in the bars???
I have the correct headset for the frame but still need to get parts for it but I have a GP one ready to go.
I am just wanting to throw a cutdown together for a show I'm putting on in August.

Leaving aesthetic opinions to one side, I know it used to work for the ‘conversion’ from SX types to ‘update’ them as some friends did just that many years ago.
The handlebar clamp is the same & interchangeable between Series 3 GP & Li/SX headsets.
Conversely, as has been said, the ‘conversion’ the other way was extremely popular with racers & I have personally fitted about four or five of the Serveta ‘blank’ headsets to such a bike, most of which now reside on the floor of my garage awaiting welding.....

So would a non chrome ring sx type headset go straight on a GP?

As I said (in my roundabout kind of way) yes.
Like you, I think they look better for it. Has to be the heptagonal (count them!) rim SX/TV/LiS chrome ring type but
without the chrome ring IMHO to get full effect.
Strangely enough, I was re-reading only today, an interview in an old Scootering where Ray Kemp said he didn't like the GP headset when they first came out. He got over it though, managing to sell enough, Lord bless him

I can't see why this wouldn't fit it's only the later Indian ones that are a different diameter. SX / GP switch housing are interchangeable and Serveta are SX based.
