Hi, a favour please.

Would any owners of these rear shocks take a couple of measurements for me please?

I am after the external diameter of the bush that fits in the eye of the shock ie the same as the internal diameter of the eye. Also please, the length of the the bush.

Many thanks in advance to anyone who will kindly assist.

Paul

Thanks very much, mate. I have 2 perfectly good rear shocks, with the exception that the top bushes are worn out.

I am going to see whether the bgm replacement bushes fit either of mine.

Thanks again.

Pending their replacement, I’d be happy to press the two from my BGM shock absorber if it gets you out of a fix.

Having said that, I looked @ t’internet to see if there were manufacturers specifically of bushes. As it happens, I’d viewed this company before:

http://www.superflex.co.uk

but hadn’t realised the technical data available via clicking on the generic items. This in turn reveals data via dimension details. I’m sure they won’t mind me repeating the data drawing here:

Bush data.JPG

As can be seen, there is a lot more information required before a bush can be selected, that’s if they have them available @ all.

The data drawing ‘terms’ of ‘ID, OD,C,D & E’ the same whether you view either ‘Parallel shock eye bushes’, ‘Top hat (half piece) shock eye bushes’ or even the ‘Parallel shock eye kit of 2 16mm ID bushes & 2 16 x 12.7 x 31mm tubes’ which is strange considering the data in the table conflicts with the title! Do note, though, that the drawings also state “Less any crush tube”

Of course, the other thing about ‘our’ rear shock absorbers is that they tend to have bushes without flanges, although I think the Gaz items had half ‘top hat’ bushes.

Anyway, sorry to say that having had a good trawl through their site, I don’t think from the only data you (we) have that any available bush will fit, though SF0031 might, dependent upon the compliance of the material, even then requiring the bore opening up to suit a suitable inner steel tube.

Your requirement is not the first time that this subject has come up on this Forum but I can’t help thinking & hoping that it’s about time we got it ‘nailed’ between us.

Bl##dy Hell!

It would appear they are available after all:

I hope that helps, but the sentiment of my earlier response remains.

Thanks, W'ton. I have tried a Superflex bush to no avail. That was on a Stratos shock that, very annoyingly, is a good shock but even the Italian manufacturers won't rebush it as their specification has now altered, apparently.

The BGM one does look like it'll repair one of my two rear shocks so, hopefully, that'll save me some cash.

Just to finish this off. The bush is a pretty good fit for one of my shocks. The shock is now back in use.

I mention this as the bush appears to be of a size that may well fit many of the Lambretta shocks on the market. Not all but a fair few.
