Coincidentally with you, I’m building some forks for a mate using (non SIL Indian) GP forks fitted with (non OEM) fixed ball-end piston rods. Gawd knows where he bought 'em, but they needed turning down to fit the link cups & my fork tool has needed modification to fit the slot in them for compression!
As he also supplied the top hat type nylon stops, that’s what I’m using as I cannot think that the GP type offer any advantage, allowing the steel rod to wear the stop that much quicker as there is less bearing surface.
I’m also not convinced that double stops help the handling, though they obviously increase spring pre-load. On the other hand, TV175 S2 springs do improve the ride.
For the record, I will be using thick top buffers & medium bottom buffers.
