speedometer mod

Hi Guys
I am looking to change the speedometer in an S2 headset. I like the look of the standard raised round one or maybe an electronic type with everything on it. It will be hooked up to a CBR 600 motor so any suggestions apart from "give ya heed a shake" would be appreciated.
Machining not a problem so anything that looks sensible i'll look at.
Hope that makes sense.
Thanks

As far as I know there would only be the SIP electronic unit that would drop straight in?

I've been using an Acewell speedo for years and never had a problem, compared to all the posts regarding the SIP ones. This may be the one if using a bike motor http://www.acewell-meter.co.uk/Acewell% ... full&id=18

With the Sip... Yes ideally,
Can't comment on the Acewell.
There are lads on here who claim to run them off their AC circuit directly, but this is crude and likely to blow the clock eventually.
When on tickover with your lights on, you are making insufficient voltage to keep the clock alive and so everytime you come off tickover the clock will go through its self test startup which takes a few seconds. That has gotta be annoying .

I have been running an Acewell lookyliky for about 6 years that they used to sell on eBay around 30 quid. I'm sure they are what is now fitted in the Scomadi and other than the fact that the Rev counter could not be changed from 4 stroke to 2 it's been spot on. The Acewell it seems can be changed but they are 130 quid. I wasn't bothered about cutting the back down on mine to fit it in the series 1 headset at the price. It has a small internal battery or it may even be a rom but it holds all the settings no problem. The battery is isolated when the ignition is off. I recently borrowed a road angel to check calibration and its 2mph under at 65. Good enough. I'm am running Full DC so electronic stuff just works.
