A mate just bought one , its H reg ? has a frame no starting AP and the engine in it has a S ( SIL ? ) followed by what looks like 400 before the 6 digit no , so is it an API frame ? and what does the 400 on the engine case mean ??

API didn't make GP's they only did Series 1's and 2's. the AP on GP's refers to Allwyn Pushpaks built, usually in kit form, in India by Andhra Pradesh Scooters Limited (APSL) of Hyderabad. Does it have Allwyn Pushpak features like the turning mudguard? As for H reg', I am not sure how it got that, maybe a bought plate. Seen lots of Indian engines with 400 on them but not sure what it means.
Hope this helps,
Rich'

Actually API made D's, LD's and Series 1's from parts and also some S2's until about 1965 when they manufactured S2's themselves.

Cheers Rich I forgot about Alwyn Pushpak's , it looks like a proper GP i.e. proper mudguard etc so what its history is we may never know ??
