Technical help for Series one, two and three Lambrettas. Models include the Li, Li Special, TV, SX, GP, Serveta and API/SIL models

Hi, my kickstart has started slipping i.e. not engaging on the 1st gear. I haven't taken it apart yet but suspect that the kickstart shaft might have bent. It's an Italian Li150 box on a TS1 but tbh, it did miss sometimes when it was fitted to a muggy 186 leading me to consider that the 1st gear is also a bit worn. So I was wondering if anyone has any experience of the Indian loose gears sold on ebay? I know that ScootRs also sell them but their shipping costs are way too high.
Cheers
Colin

Spell his name correctly, and you might even get a discount.

Coaster,
Before replacing 1st gear bear in mind the teeth on the kickstart piston are generally softer than those on the gear itself, so likely to wear out first. I would assume that's how the system is supposed to work, ie replace piston periodically rather than mess up the gearbox, but I'm no expert. Guess you will find out when you take the sidecase off. Could be adjustment also if not the GP fixed ramp type.

Yes, I've got a replacement piston but it's always slipped and I'm failrly sure some of the pawls are chipped anyway

Colin, I have two 25litre oil drums, both overflowing with cogs and clusters, you are welcome to take a look.
if you sort some cogs out as you search, you can have one!
Peach & Cheggers did make a start last week, but they quickly got bored...
