Anyone ever tried using a bonnet pin as a different option to a camlock for securing Panels. Obviously it's on a custom bike not a restro

That's a tidy looking option, thanks for that

Hi Chaps
I noticed this old post of mine had been resurrected and it gave me the opportunity to try and post some pics using flickr for the first time as Photobucket no longer allow embedded pics.
This is a revised side panel clamp using 23.5mmx 2mm alloy bar that does not need a hole drilled into the frame loop as the clamping allen bolt is located underneath the bottom edge of frame loop. Some of you may have a piece of cycle inner tube( if you followed a previous post) to protect the side panel paint work.Once you have it correctly aligned drill second hole on diagonal.
You cannot get the panel off until you have removed bolt

I have a Silver Special with roller type handles.
I put a thread each side of the bracket. (5 minute job if you have access to a suitable die)
I cut a suitable piece of rubber and put a hole through the centre.
I put this on the end of the bracket after fastening the panels and then fit a nyloc nut.
Not fool proof but will put off or delay anyone after your panels

I do similar on my series 3,only instead of a nylock nut, after fastening mine I fix a jubilee clip to the end of the panel bracket. This is also not fool proof but I figure that after trying my panels the theif will move on to the next one rather than risking getting caught laying on his back trying to unfasten the jubilee clip.
