SIP speedo questions

Cannot find answers to these, so before I leap can anyone answer these for me please:

1/ I haven't got a battery, its an AC model Lambretta. How does the SIP retain information like 'time of day', has it got an internal battery? How long does this last if you leave scooter over winter before you lose all information?

2/ Looking at the YouTube instructions it says the mileage odometer isn't adjustable obviously, but there is an adjustable mileage, is this where you can enter your current mileage from you old speedo?

1. The SIP really needs a stable DC battery power source to be reliable. You can use a rectifier and regulator to get the DC without a battery but is temperamental at tickover which causes the speedo to continuously re-initialise itself which is a nuisance when sat at traffic lights with your lights on.
2. I think the reference in your second question is regarding the trip reset mileage feature, just like you have in your car. There is no facility to enter a specific odometer reading.

The time clock is not very reliable. Mine resets itself every few days. I've given up on it. You are much better off with a portable sun dial.

No you need an "inteliconverter" from Anthony Tambs on face book they are used to charge phones and run sat navs etc when your running AC without a battery, SLUK did an article on using one for the sip speedo and found it works very well, cuts out all the resetting and fannying about at low revs.

I run a sip2 on AC not lost any data yet and the clock stays bang on the only thing that happens it flickers on and off if I try to start with the lights on . can't set the miles it's just the trip that can be put back to zero

The only difference between SIP1 and SIP2 that I am aware off is the SIP2's allow the Speedo and rev counter displays to be swapped over? Maybe SIP2 clocks have an internal mod to convert to dc with a storage capacitor to prevent brownouts on tickover????? Sip1 clocks certainly don't have this feature.
Considering the amount of AC Lammy's out there, it would certainly make good sense to 'mod up' and sell more.

the sip2 also allows fuel tap connection and fuel flashes on the screen when you're low but I was told the black box had a small rechargable battery in it which is how it saves the data

The SIP1 also has the low fuel connection facility.
I doubt the regulator box has a rechargeable battery. More likely it will have a large capacitor instead.
