Hi Guys, Has anyone fitted indicators to a series 3. I had thought of LED bulbs powered by a battery.
Any info would be appreciated.

I wrote about fitting indicators in a recent Oily Rag article in Jetset. There are LED indicator kits on eBay which include the special LED compatible relay.

I'm pleased with my indicators.

If you use LEDs make sure you get an "electronic" relay.

What are you guys using for switches on series 3. I have a special that I have thought about changing to use a LI type but I will have to change the throttle housing., disc brake mount.
Just added these to the rear of my series 1 as I was concerned a leg down at lights would block the view of the ones at the front
Image
They are LED and also have stop and tail lights, brighter than they look due to the flash
Image
These were on the old forum sorry its not a series 3

Hi Norfolk,
I used conventional 23 watt motorcycle indicators and mechanical relay( Bimetal strip). Note as I understand if you cant see indicators from riding position you will need a warning LED or buzzer.Carlos's neat solution would seem to bypass the the need for a warning light. A stainless steel bracket fits under light switch which means the switch is raised up out of its normal position a strip of black plastic from an aerosol cap covers the gap. I have led warning light in speedo Some one on old forum had modified Honda moped indicator switch which looked very professional.
Image
I have used smaller switch and smaller stainless steel bracket on n0 2 scoot as shown with cycle inner tube to water proof it
Image
Image
Image
Both scoots are wassel DC with battery .I assume you are going to charge battery from mains ( with long lead :D) two conventional indicator bulbs would draw 3.8 amps but only infrequently
The front indicators have longer stems than rear and cost about £6 a pair 3 pin relay about £6.A 12v motor cycle battery about £15 some used house alarm batteries to good effect.
Hope this helps
Grandpa

Well, the scooter gets through the MoT each year, though I understand that I am avoiding answering your question.

One year it will be failed, or spotted by the police, but until then, I think these are the best lights you can fit to a Lambretta. LOADS of light.

One lamp is 9w and the other is 27w. I use the 9w for dip, and both for high beam. Sometimes, the reflection off road signs at full beam is too much, and I have to switch to dip. Lovely.

 You have me thinking now about my pathfinder, I used the multi LED lamps and they are crap, so stayed with the tungsten lamp. I have a 3 led cree that I may try in the back of the reflector. Thanks

i used motrax tinycators but they are now hard to get a hold of so these would probably be your best bet now

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-x-Chrome-Un ... 3f39a96f34

they are so cheap its silly

youll also need one of these indicator packs

http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/V ... cators.php

but when you order it make sure you tell them that its for an led type indicator as the flasher relay will be different

included in their kit is a pretty good instruction leaflet on how to wire it all up

its pretty simple really

after that its just a case of where you want to site them below is how i set mine up

sadly SR dont do the old original indian rear indicator stems any more (sold out) but you can
just use an L shaped bracket from b&q to hold it onto the back of the number plate

i also got a hold of an old li150 switch unit and housing and then rewired it to have the bottom
rocker switch opperate the indicators and i also got the 3 pin indicator relay from VWP so
that the spare connector could be run up to a led light in the speedo (LHS one) that way
youve got your idiot light covered for your mot test

the speedo comes apart easily and you just drill a 5mm hole in the plastic faceplate and superglue it in

these are the black ones
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-Motorcy ... 5afd8b1675
They do a plastic chrome ones as well. They needed the bracket cutting off and I had problems wiring them to flash both top and bottom ambers at the same time. I had to install a small diode to make sure that one flashing did not flash the stop LEDS. They are designed to fit above or under a number plate and they worked fine like that but I was going for the Bieme look.
I had a set of the royal enamel ones but the plastic lenses looked like wine gums glued on and looked an insipid pink colour, they fell to bits after a couple of months

I want to do this soon. Can somebody assure me of the correct legal requirements re: lens colour back and front and distance between left and right?
