original petrol tank

Has anyone successfully used a tank sealant. My tank is pretty clean inside with no loose rust or particles but should i still seal it before i fit it and if so with what.

If it's clean your "petroil" mixture will keep it that way.

Por 15 kit is good stuff.Full kit was £50. Sort of galvanizes the inside of the tank. Used it . Seems fine. Check out YouTube for application video.

Yes, I’d agree. As long as you have no pin hole leaks, keep it as it is.

In my experience, some tank sealants can cause more problems than they solve. Some are very good though.

As mentioned, avoid tank sealants. What i would do is fill the tank with a mixture of phosphoric acid at 10/1 using a heavy 88% acid. Top the tank up with boiling water, leave for 30 mins, rinse and repeat. This will dissolve any remaining rust, the petroil mixture will keep it rust free..
